Since 2004, QTMHC has been conducting regular seminars on the perspectives CALD communities have about mental health and mental illness. The seminars are presented by members of the communities who are supported and resourced in this role by staff at QTMHC. Seminar presenters cover historical and cultural aspects such as communication, religious and acculturation issues and more specifically focus on pre-migration and post-migration mental health risk and protective factors and cultural explanatory models of mental illness, utilisation of mental health services and treatments. Most seminars have reached out to regional areas via video-conferencing and have been video-recorded.
