Scientific Review Panel
The Scientific Review Panel (SRP ) members are Medical Practitioner’s, Nurses and Clinicians who have volunteered to review study proposals referred to them, from time to time, by the HREC for Independent Scientific Review. This is to ensure all aspects of the study can be evaluated accurately to maintain the requirements set out in the National Statement.
Some of the studies referred to the SRP are ones involving Clinical Pharmacology or Radiation.
Clinical Pharmacological Review
“Projects involving drugs may require to be reviewed by a clinical pharmacologist, at the request of the HREC Chair.”
Radiation Safety Review
All projects using x-rays, MRI, radioactive isotopes, radio waves, microwaves, magnetic fields, short waves, lasers, ultrasound etc may need to be approved by the PAH Radiation Safety Committee following review by the Chair, HREC.
Confidentiality of individuals scientifically reviewing studies is maintained and names will not be divulged to study researchers.
SAE (Serious Adverse Events) Review Committee
This committee reviews internal and external Serious Un expected Adverse Events and Unexpected Adverse Drug Reactions.
Low Risk Protocol Review Committee
This committee meets in between meetings to review low risk studies with a preferred turnaround time of approximately 10 days based on the nature and scope of the research protocol and its participants.
