> 14 May: Helipad commencement of normal operations
From 12am, 15 May 2010, Princess Alexandra Hospital's new Dr Peter Thomas Helipad will be fully operational and open to accepting all aeromedical retrievals.
This follows an extremely successful testing and training period performed by PAH staff and emergency retreival helicopter pilots over the past week.
Thank you to all involved in the commissioning of the helipad.
> 10 May: Official opening of the Dr Peter Thomas Helipad
On 10 May 2010, Premier Anna Bligh and Deputy Premier and Minister for Heath Paul Lucas officially opened Princess Alexandra Hospital's new roof-top helipad.
The world class, emergency retrievals helipad has been named after retired deputy director of the hospital's emergency department, Dr Peter Thomas OAM.
Emergency Management Queensland's Rescue 500 helicopter was the first to land on the new facility, which is 50 metres above ground level and features a high speed lift to ground level.
The helipad is being testing this week, with full operations to commence on 15 May.

> 5 May: Notice to local residents: helipad testing, 10-14 May 2010
The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) has been receiving helicopter retrievals for nearly 25 years.
As part of the major upgrade to our emergency department facilities, we have re-located the helipad to the roof of the main hospital building. This new helipad will improve safety for patients, hospital staff and flight crews, and is expected to have lower noise impacts than the previous facility due to its location more than 50m above ground level.
From Monday, 10 May 2010, we will commence a week of testing on the new helipad. During this time, a higher than average number of helicopters will be arriving and departing from the hospital. Following the testing period, the helipad will commence normal operations.
Please note that after the initial week of testing, the number of helicopters arriving and departing from the facility will reduce significantly.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this important testing phase.
