Pressure Ulcer Prevention

Pressure ulcers are painful, debilitating and preventable.  They can develop in the inpatient, residential and community settings and can take weeks, months or years to heal.  Pressure ulcers are financially and emotionally costly to facilities, staff, patients and their loved ones.

Even those who are usually fit, healthy and active may become vulnerable when unwell.  Health professionals have a responsibility to be actively involved in pressure ulcer prevention.

The Patient Safety Centre Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program is designed to support health care staff and patients throughout Queensland by providing access to best practice pressure ulcer information and education.
