Professional Conduct Review Panel

A professional conduct review panel (PCRP) is one of three disciplinary bodies established under the Health Practitioners (Professional Standards) Act 1999 to discipline registered health practitioners.  A PCRP is a statutory body, whose members are paid sitting fees and expenses by Queensland Health. Members of panels of assessors, who are appointed by the Governor in Council, may be selected by the Secretary PCRPs to form a PCRP.  They may also be selected by the Principal Registrar of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) to assist QCAT (Health Practitioner matters).  Panel members are appointed by Governor in Council and may be members of the public, private health practitioners, or health professionals employed by Queensland Health.

The office of the PCRP is staffed part time by the Secretary and the Secretariat's administrative officer who are Queensland Health employees.  The Secretary's responsibilities include selecting members to form a PCRP, and advising and supporting PCRPs administratively and in relation to procedural matters.  This includes periodically providing information about legislative, administrative, procedural and legal matters.
