The Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Unit is responsible for preventing and controlling communicable diseases in Queensland through developing sustainable strategic and policy frameworks.
The Unit assists with the prevention and control of communicable diseases in Queensland, including mosquito borne diseases and animal borne diseases.
This involves supporting the response to communicable disease outbreaks or incidents, and emerging diseases that impact on public health (including pandemics).
The Unit also develops resources to help stakeholders effectively administer and implement health legislation, primarily the Public Health Act and the Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act (PDF, kb).
