Queensland Health Immunisation Program

Immunisation is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions by which to maintain and protect the health of the population through the reduction, elimination and eradication of preventable communicable diseases.

The Queensland Health Immunisation Program (QHIP) is responsible for implementing the National Immunisation Program on a statewide level. The National Immunisation Program is a joint Australian, State and Territory Government initiative aimed at improving vaccination coverage.

Functions of QHIP

Queensland Health’s work in this area is guided by Strategic Directions for Health Protection 2010 - 2013.
