Central Regional Services

Central Regional Services (CRS) is one of three areas (Tropical, Central, Southern ) which provides public health services, through the following units:

• Brisbane Northside - located at Windsor
• Moreton Bay - located at Redcliffe
• Central Queensland - located at Rockhampton
• Central West - located at Longreach
• Sunshine Coast - located at Maroochydore
• Wide Bay - with offices in Hervey Bay and Bundaberg

Key functions

• Coordinate disease control initiatives - including surveillance, monitoring and managing disease outbreaks, epidemiological investigations and coordination of, and support for, immunisation programs.
• Developing, coordinating and support population-focused health promotion interventions for priority health issues of state and local significance - in particular chronic disease risk factor prevention, injury and skin cancer prevention, and mental health promotion.
• Monitoring and enforcing relevant public health legislation and/or policies - food safety and standards, regulated drugs and poisons, environmental toxicology and tobacco control.
• Undertaking health surveillance initiatives - the collation, analysis, monitoring and dissemination of information on health status and risk factor trends.
• Providing specialist public health advice and services to a range of other government agencies, local government and the community including leading, participating in, or advising on health risk and health impact assessments.
