Role of the Environmental Health (General)
The Group addresses a range of environmental health issues, and identifies and researches emerging issues. There is also involvement in the areas of food, particularly seafood and drugs, poisons and therapeutics.
The Group undertakes project work on behalf of other Corporate Office services and the Networks.

Legislation
The Environmental Health (General) is responsible for:

coordinating appointments, authorities and delegations under the Health Act 1937 and Food Act 1981
-
developing and reviewing statewide policies and procedures on the implementation of the legislation
-
reviewing proposed Commonwealth and State legislation which influences environmental health
-
reviewing proposed local laws as they relate to Local Government.
