Queensland Tuberculosis Control Centre
The Queensland Tuberculosis Control Centre coordinates the management and control of tuberculosis (TB) in Queensland. We are also responsible for the surveillance of non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease and Hansen's disease (Leprosy).
Key functions
-
Manage and coordinate anti-TB programs to work towards eradicating TB.

Provide clinical support to the screening for TB and mycobacterial disease in South East Queensland.

Support health care workers to manage and control TB.

Link with specialists who manage non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease.

Contribute to research relating to:
- monitoring all mycobacterial diseases in Queensland
- non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease
- playing a part in local and global control of TB.

Take part in the Mycobacterial Services Policy Committee to make sure that Queensland Health's Mycobacterial Reference Laboratory continues to provide the high level of support that is needed for TB monitoring, control, treatment and management.

Provide expert advice on the state of TB and Hansen's disease control. This advice highlights the large proportion of high risk groups affected by these diseases (eg. Indigenous Australians, certain migrant populations, etc).

Represent Queensland Health on and advocate to state, national and international groups about the national and global control of TB.

Provision of radiographic services for the diagnosis, management and surveillance of TB, which include chest x-rays and clinical follow-up.
