Medical Entomologists utilise scientific principles and methods in the study of insects and closely related arthropods (ticks, mites, spiders) that impact human health and apply them to prevent or minimise the risk of vector-borne diseases as well as their pest problems. The success of the prevention and control of vector born-diseases and arthropods of public health importance is achieved through the design, coordination, implementation and evaluation of a range of population health strategies and interventions to improve the wellbeing of individuals, communities and the population as a whole.
