Optimal Infant Nutrition: Evidence-Based Guidelines

Optimal Infant Nutrition: Evidence-Based Guidelines 2003-2008 were developed to assist Queensland Health in the promotion and support of breastfeeding and the appropriate introduction of solid food. The Guidelines contribute to the implementation of the Strategic Policy Framework for Children’s and Young People’s Health 2002-2007 and complement the recently released NHMRC Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents Incorporating the Infant Feeding Guidelines for Health Workers.

Working Together for Healthy Schools: a Queensland Health Position Statement and Practice Framework

The Working Together for Healthy Schools: A Queensland Health Position Statement and Practice Framework provides clear direction about how Queensland Health will work with schools to maximise health and contribute to the achievement of learning outcomes. It also clarifies what the government and nongovernment education systems can expect from Queensland Health in terms of how it will work with school communities.

Queensland Health Guidelines for Using Screening and Surveillance in the Early Detection of Childhood Health Conditions

These Guidelines are designed to support Zones and Health Service Districts to plan for and implement evidence-based screening and surveillance within a comprehensive system for the early detection of childhood health conditions through:

· development and delivery of evidence-based services
· workforce development
· information management, monitoring and evaluation
· planning and implementing integrated services.

The Guidelines will support staff to establish collaborative partnerships, reorient services and progress decisions regarding future resource investment. They provide a universal framework which enables appropriate services to be targeted to those with a high risk of health problems.
