The Working Together for Healthy Schools: A Queensland Health Position Statement and Practice Framework provides clear direction about how Queensland Health will work with schools to maximise health and contribute to the achievement of learning outcomes. It also clarifies what the government and nongovernment education systems can expect from Queensland Health in terms of how it will work with school communities.
These Guidelines are designed to support Zones and Health Service Districts to plan for and implement evidence-based screening and surveillance within a comprehensive system for the early detection of childhood health conditions through:
· development and delivery of evidence-based services
· workforce development
· information management, monitoring and evaluation
· planning and implementing integrated services.
The Guidelines will support staff to establish collaborative partnerships, reorient services and progress decisions regarding future resource investment. They provide a universal framework which enables appropriate services to be targeted to those with a high risk of health problems.
