Discussion Paper: Strategic Policy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People's Health 2005 - 2010
Start Date: Monday, 11th April 2005
End Date: Friday, 13th May 2005
There are significant and persisting health differentials and social inequalities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. These preventable conditions contribute to poor health and social outcomes in the short and long term.
The development of a strategic policy and implementation plan is a priority for Queensland Health and its partners. It will provide an explicit approach for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people and guide investment in primary prevention and treatment over the next five years and into the future.
The Discussion Paper: Strategic Policy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People's Health 2005 - 2010 has recently been endorsed by Queensland Cabinet for consultation. The purpose of this discussion paper is to facilitate consultation with individuals and organisations interested in the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. Individuals and organisations are invited to provide comment in writing or through consultation workshops to influence the final drafting of the strategic policy and an implementation plan.
