Health information management

The Act allows for the collection of data for the cancer and pap smear registers and birth statistics. These registers allow Queensland Health to monitor, analyse and research health data in order to provide better health outcomes, to assist in the planning of health services and provide strategies to prevent and manage health conditions.

Health information held by Queensland Health is sometimes given out for research purposes. There are however strict guidelines as to how information may be provided.
