Mental Health Scholarships

    

Overview

The Mental Health Scholarship Scheme provides financial assistance for completion of approved postgraduate level university studies in mental health clinical practice that will enhance the capability of Queensland Health Mental Health staff.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications will be considered from applicants who are either:

• permanent employees of a Queensland Health Mental Health Service
• temporary contract employees within a Queensland Health Mental Health Service
• casual staff who can demonstrate an ongoing commitment to Queensland Health Mental Health and have written support from their District Mental Health Service.
  
  

Application Dates

Congratulations to the 74 applicants who have been offered a scholarship to study in 2012.

The Qld Health Mental Health Scholarship is now closed. 

Applications for scholarships for study in 2013 will be available from September 2012 and will close on 26th October 2012.

Value of Scholarship

All Mental Health Care Professionals receive a set rate of $1,000.00 per subject for study completed in 2012.
Scholarship recipients who will not complete their program of study in one year must reapply for a scholarship in the second year of study. Priority is given to applications from previous scholarship recipients for their second year of study providing it is a continuation of the same program.

Approved Courses

The scheme supports two broad categories of postgraduate courses.

• Courses that lead to credentialing in Mental Health Nursing.
• Courses that assist Allied Health Professionals in enhancing advanced clinical mental health practice with a holistic, recovery-oriented, consumer focussed service delivery and that are:
  
  • linked to National and State mental health policy, priorities and standards
  • directly relevant to recognised and supported clinical practice in mental health
  • focussed on clinical or direct service provision skills
  • focussed on addressing identified workforce priorities such as skill shortages or the development of competencies.
    
    

Information for Current Scholarship Recipients

Once you have successfully completed your study please complete the Scholarship Claim Form, attach a copy of your results for the semester and an original copy of the tax invoice / receipt for your university tuition fees and forward to:
