Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (non-clinical)

The CHC41102 Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (non-clinical) addresses the vocational competencies required to support mental health consumers and effective practice outcomes in contemporary mental health services. This training is available to all staff working in the mental health area (ie. Queensland Health, non-government organisations, and other government departments). The Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (non-clinical) will be delivered face-to-face with most units conducted as a one-day workshop. Assessments will take place both within the workshop and as a workplace project.

This nationally accredited qualification would be suitable for:

  • Indigenous mental health workers (and Indigenous health workers) 
  • Social Work associates 
  • Nurses - including enrolled nurses, assistants in nursing and registered nurses
    other health professionals new to mental health (eg occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, speech therapists)
  • Non-mental health workers whose work role involves interactions with peole with a mental illness

The Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (Non-clinical) consists of 14 accredited training units (11 compulsory and 3 electives). Individuals can enrol for the full qualification or can elect to enrol in individual accredited units that would be beneficial to their work role. It is anticipated that it would take 12 to 18 months to complete the full qualification.
