Leptospirosis Surveillance Reports

The World Health Organisation has recognised the disease leptospirosis as a re-emerging communicable disease that requires active surveillance to understand changes in the demographics and patterns of infection.

The Brisbane WHO / FAO / OIE Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Leptospirosis actively maintains databases to ensure that the data contained within our Australian epidemiological databases is accurate and topical. This data is also used to update an International Leptospirosis Society global surveillance database.

Australia Wide Surveillance Database for Leptospirosis Notifications

Demographic data is collected from confirmed cases of leptospirosis notified to the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance Scheme. Quarterly reports are generated for Queensland data and made available below.
