Business and Research Partnerships

Clinical and Statewide Services actively seeks to develop business and research opportunities with other public and private organisations.

EnTox logo

National Research Centre for Environmental Toxicology

The National Health and Medical Research Council's National Research Centre for Environmental Toxicology - EnTox (formally NRCET) - was established in 1991 by The University of Queensland and Queensland Health in the laboratories of the Queensland Health Forensic and Scientific Services in Coopers Plains.

These laboratories are now being further extended to bring together the centres of Public Health, Environmental Health and Forensic Sciences in the Queensland Health Forensic and Scientific Services (FSS).

The situation of EnTox in FSS has the further advantage of being close to Griffith University, which has the largest academic group studying Environmental Sciences in Australia. Griffith University latterly became a partner in the Centre organisation in 1994.

Clinical and Statewide Services has partnered with the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Quality and Treatment in Australia's national effort to develop systems that will help the water industry deliver a high quality product at an affordable price.

Sisters of Charity and Holy Spirit Health Service Queensland

Pathology Queensland has entered into an agreement with the Sisters of Charity and Holy Spirit Health Service Queensland to deliver pathology services to the Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital. The agreement licenses Holy Spirit Northside to operate the Pathology Queensland laboratory at the Prince Charles Hospital as a private laboratory, which is known as Northside Pathology.

The venture will return increased private practice income to Pathology Queensland to support education and research and will allow Pathology Queensland to develop a new continuum of care model, which provides services to the primary care, public and private hospital sectors of the health care business.

AUSLAB is a reporting and laboratory management software system developed by PJA Computer Consultants. Clinical and Statewide Services' implementation of AUSLAB is Australia's most significant pathology systems implementation and Queensland Health's first and largest integrated clinical system implementation.

The implementation has integrated all 33 Queensland Health hospital-based pathology laboratories and the Forensic and Scientific Services laboratories at Coopers Plains into a single system.

Staff at more than 200 health care facilities on the Queensland Health wide area network are able to access results in the AUSLAB system. In addition to pathology laboratories a number of clinical measurement areas at Princess Alexandra and QEII hospitals will also report in AUSLAB.
