Step 2:
- Once you receive a reply from the MaCH R Tumour Bank detailing the availability of the tissue complete the MaCH R Tumour Bank Application Form.
- Submit the completed form along with a copy of your protocol (NEAF is acceptable), evidence of Human Research Ethics Committee approval, research governance approval (SSA or CaSS Research Committee approval), Public Health Act approval (if obtaining confidential patient information) and evidence of project funding
Step 3:
- Your application will be reviewed by the MaCH R Tumour Bank Scientific Management Committee. In particular, the application will be assessed for its perceived value in relation to the demands placed upon the Tumour Bank. Additionally as the specimens have taken several years to collect, the committee will be concerned about maximum utilisation of the specimens and ensuring that enough tissue can be retained for future use.
- You will be notified in writing whether your application has been successful. If all documentation has been supplied a decision will be made within 1 calendar month.
Step 4:
- Once your application has been approved you will be requested to sign and return an agreement for the use of Tumour Bank samples (see Agreement for MaCH R Tumour Bank Sample Use & Acknowledgement ).
- Once the signed agreement and signed quote for services has been received by the Tumour Bank, an arrangement will be made to transport the specimens to you at your own expense. Please note no work will commence until a signed quote has been returned.
If you are applying for funding from a large, peer-reviewed granting body you are advised to contact the Tumour Bank well in advance of the final date for grant applications, are encouraged to include in the budget an amount for provision of tumour samples. This is a legitimate budgetary expense in research grant applications. Applications for Tumour Bank samples will be considered if funding is pending.
