Group Linen Services are semi commercialised business units and separate District entities within Queensland Health, developed on a "Best Practice" Linen Service Model.
The Management are committed to the task of planning, developing, implementing and maintaining a service delivery model that is both cost effective and which meets agreed client service levels. Group Linen Services commit to the delivery of services that emphasise value for money, client focus, performance monitoring and continuous improvement. The Units have met all the requirements of an effective quality system, and has been certified to AS/ISO 9002.
Our strategic direction focuses on the delivery of linen services within public health care facilities in the Sunshine Coast - Wide Bay, Gold Coast, Metro North, Children's Health Service, Metro South and parts of Darling Downs - West Moreton Health Service Districts.
The most fundamental element of this service has been the development of two (2) 100 tonne laundries located at the Prince Charles Hospital campus and the Princess Alexandra Hospital campus. Both facilities were commissioned early in 2001 and operate as a single linen service under one management structure.
GLS provides a complete linen hire service to public and private sector clients. The service includes the collection, transportation, processing, finishing, distribution, repair and replacement of linen and the provision of unsterile / sterile theatre linen and pre-packs. GLS processes around 290 tonne per week and is one of the largest linen services in Australia, the largest with a direct linen imprest system.
