QHSSP Payroll & Establishment Services

Who we are

Payroll and Establishment Services is a state-wide business unit within the Queensland Health Shared Service Partner with a core responsibility to record and manage the human resource information of Queensland Health and produce the payroll outcome.

Payroll and Establishment Services is a critical component of the management of Queensland Health and our performance is integral to employee perceptions of the organisation as a whole. 

To improve and develop our service, we have identified four priority areas:

• client focus and the development of good relationships
• data integrity and procedural correctness
• process standardisation
• development of a professional highly skilled supported team

The organisational structure for Payroll and Establishment Services has evolved since 2003 into an integrated state-wide service.  The people within the Service are a committed group of Queensland Health employees, many of whom have long service with the Department.  There is a collective will to improve what we do, provide reliable outcomes and succeed in our business.

What we do

QHSSP Payroll & Establishment Services:

• Pays 64,000 customers every fortnight
• Manages the banking processes of 64,000 employees, disbursing payment across numerous personal banking facilities
• Manages and submits employee deductions
• Calculates and submits superannuation funds
• Manages the Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) taxation requirements of 64,000 employees
• Produces payments within 24 hours of the pay period closing
• Maintains the demographic employee information of Queensland Health employees
• Maintains the personnel file for all Queensland Health employees
• Processes commencements and terminations for Queensland Health employees
• Creates and maintains the establishment data of business units within Queensland Health
• Publishes all Queensland Health rosters
• Updates all changes to Queensland Health rosters
• Manages HR system security processes
• Maintains legislative and audit requirements for information management, financial controls and system efficacy
• Provides training to Line Managers in the use of the rostering system
• Provides information sessions to line managers on establishment management
• Responds to employee and manager enquiries
• Provides advice on operational or implementation requirements of industrial outcomes
• Invests in service improvements and innovations
• Builds customer relationships
• Manages a positive partnership with CorpTech
