Functions of the Queensland Tuberculosis Control Program (QTCP)
The program is coordinated by the Queensland Tuberculosis Control Centre and regional tuberculosis control units in Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.
| The statewide program involves: |

supporting prevention initiatives such as:

vaccination programs for babies and adults
-
screening high-risk groups including health workers, overseas students, overseas travellers and migrants
-
contact tracing and screening of people associated with tuberculosis patients;

providing expert medical treatment for patients with tuberculosis and associated mycobacterial diseases, involving:
-
over 1,000 free clinics with medical specialists each year
-
monitoring and supervision of TB medication during treatment
-
home and hospital visits during TB treatment;
|
|
education for health care and education facilities (as requested).
