Mycobacterial research

Research is an integral part of the Queensland Tuberculosis Control Program (QTCP). Queensland Health staff including QTCP representatives, hospital infectious diseases units, hospital respiratory units and the Mycobacterial Reference Laboratory participate in clinical and epidemiological research related to:

• the monitoring of all mycobacterial diseases in Queensland
• non-tuberculous (atypical) mycobacterium disease
• furthering the local and global control of tuberculosis (TB).
