Tuberculosis (TB) surveillance

The Queensland Tuberculosis Control Program (QTCP) gathers a range of data using questionnaires and forms. Data is collected when TB cases are notified, during treatment and after treatment (for a period of three to five years, even if a patient finishes treatment and/or post treatment surveillance outside Queensland).

To assist patient management and epidemiological research, the QTCP has a health record retention policy which has ensured the retention of every TB notification in Queensland since the Queensland Tuberculosis Control Centre (QTBCC) was first established in 1950. Data is used to:
