The Health Quality and Compalints Commission is an independent organisation that reviews and investigates health complaints.

Queensland Ombudsman
The Ombudsman investigates complaints about the actions and decisions of Queensland's state and local government agencies or their staff that may be made for an improper purpose, made on irrelevant grounds, illegal or contrary to law, unreasonable, unjust, improperly discriminatory, based on a mistake of law or fact, made without giving reasons, or wrong. Some examples of the types of matters the Ombudsman looks into include public agencies not acting on complaints and unfair employment or tendering processes.

Adult Guardian
The role of the Adult Guardian is to protect the rights and interests of adults with impaired capacity. The Adult Guardian offers support and advice to guardians, attorneys, administrators and others acting informally, to assist them when making personal, health care or financial decisions for adults with impaired capacity. If there is a report of exploitation, abuse or neglect of a person with impaired capacity, or a complaint about the actions of a person who has been given enduring power of attorney, the Adult Guardian can investigate.

Children's Commissioner
The Commission for Children and Young People promotes and protects the rights, interests and well-being of all children and young people in Queensland. The Commission can help with any complaints about the services a child is receiving or entitled to receive from a government Department or other government funded organisation

Office of the Health Practitioner Registration Boards
The Office of Health Practitioner Registration Boards is a statutory authority which is the combined secretariat for thirteen Health Practitioner Registration Boards which are bodies corporate. The principal function of the Boards is the registration of suitably qualified health practitioners to ensure safe and competent health service delivery to the public. Each Board is responsible for determination of professional standards, assessment of applications for registration and investigation of complaints. The Boards may institute proceedings against practitioners for unsatisfactory professional conduct.

Queensland Nursing Council
The Council's role is to ensure, as far as practicable, that safe and competent nursing is available to the people of Queensland. In partnership with consumers, the profession and other groups, Council develops, implements and monitors standards for the registration, education, practice and conduct of nurses. These standards for safe and competent nursing are essential for the protection of consumers. Council also influences the development of nursing in the public's interest and assures the quality of nursing practice and the continuing competence of nurses.

Anti-discrimination Commission of Queensland
The Commission is the organisation which administers the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. They work to promote equality of opportunity and to protect people from unlawful discrimination, sexual harassment and public vilification. There are two main ways the Commission does this - one is by handling complaints from people, and the other is by informing people about discrimination issues.
