QLD Health Patient Safety and Quality Board

About The Board

The Patient Safety and Quality Board was established in August 2006 and includes Queensland Health Health Service Districts, Queensland Health Area Health Service Management Units, medical colleges, advisory bodies, and Executive Management of Queensland Health.

As outlined in the Board's Charter,  the roles and responsibilities of the Patient Safety and Quality Board are to:

• Oversee the Queensland Health clinical governance framework;
• Advise the Director-General on all matters relating to patient safety, quality and effectiveness.
• Develop and keep under review a Patient Safety Strategy for Queensland Health;
• Promote improvement in effectiveness of health care;
• Assess Area Health Service responses to safety and quality issues;
• Approve policies and implementation standards relating to patient safety and quality issues.

A Communique is issued following each monthly meeting to keep stakeholders up to date.
