About Radiation Therapy

Queensland Health’s Radiation Therapy Services are equal to any in Australia. Based at four major hospitals in Brisbane in south-east Queensland and Townsville in north Queensland, all radiation therapy units are modern, purpose-built facilities.

The State’s biggest Radiation Therapy Unit at Royal Brisbane Hospital houses five linear accelerators with the latest features including multi-leaf collimators and electronic portal imaging. Each of the four Radiation Therapy Units has a dedicated CT Scanner as well as simulators. Computer planning systems include Plato, Eclipse and Pinnacle. You may also have the opportunity to work with brachytherapy. As part of the latest technology, most departments are filmless.
