Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine

This department provides specialist services in pre-procedure patient assessment and anaesthesia for surgical, interventional and diagnostic procedures and acute and obstetric pain management.

Facilities and services:

• Pre-admission anaesthetic assessment clinic
• Perioperative patient care and planning
• The Acute Pain Management Service - provides advice and treatment for patients with recent onset of severe pain. (These patients can include trauma and medical patients as well as post surgical patients.)
• The Obstetric Anaesthetic Service provides advice and treatment for expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy and delivery.
