Consumer and Carer services are dedicated to supporting consumers to actively participate in their recovery journey. All the workers in Consumer and Carer Services have personally experienced mental illness, or caring for someone with a mental illness. Click the links below for valuable information and helpful contacts in addition to details on free workshops, meetings and forum.
Consumers
Metro North Mental Health RBWH recognises people on the recovery journey should be working in equal partnership with their treating team to take control of their mental illness. The recovery journey is about a positive mindset and a belief that we can live happy and fulfilling lives despite mental illness. We are constantly striving to develop a culture where recovery for consumers is encouraged, promoted and nurtured.
Family and Carers
We recognise the value and worth of engaging carers/family members in the care and treatment planning of consumers. It is acknowledged that in the majority of circumstances, carers and family members provide consumers with their most reliable and consistent mechanisms for support and social integration: prerequisites for mental well being and recovery. Improved health and quality of life outcomes are gained by consumers whose carers/family members are active contributors in the treatment process.
