The Kenneth G Jamieson Neurosurgery Unit is the major neurosurgical referral centre for Queensland and covers all aspects of neurosurgery. The Department provides inpatient and outpatient services, for both elective and emergency neurological, spinal and peripheral nerve conditions.
The Department is also involved in education of medical staff, medical students, nurses and other ancillary medical staff, with active involvement in research through the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the University of Queensland, as well as affiliations with other institutions interstate and overseas. The department is also actively involved in Neurosurgical Administration, via the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Neurosurgical Society of Queensland.
