Palliative Care Service
The Palliative Care service is available to all RBWH patients with a potential life-limiting illness regardless of diagnosis.
The service is available Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm. Patients with incurable disease experiencing unrelieved pain and symptoms, psychological, social or spiritual distress can be referred to the Palliative Care Service.
The multi-disciplinary team will respond at any time in the trajectory of illness up to and including the terminal phase.
Facilities and services:

In-patient pain and symptom assessment, management and advice

In-patient psycho/social and spiritual support and appropriate referral

Referrals to pain services at RBWH

Assistance in advance care planning

Support to general practitioners and domiciliary agencies in the community

Transfers to other palliative care services including in-patient units and community services

Education programs
