Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department provides pharmaceutical and medicines management services for inpatients, outpatients and day admitted patients.
The Department also aims to encourage continuous improvement in the quality of pharmaceutical care, and to undertake education and research activities in relation to the quality use of medicines.

Facilities and services

• Dispensing and medication and counselling
• Medication chart review
• After hours on-call service
• Providing drug information and training to medical, nursing and allied health staff and graduate/postgraduate students
• Consultancy to other hospitals and institutions
• Patient education.

Other services include:

• Oncology Service including parenteral cytotoxic reconstitution
• Clinical trials dispensing and associated pharmaceutical service
• Manufacture of sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products
• Participation in practice-based research, drug utilisation, evaluation studies and medication safety projects.
