Specialist Outpatient Service (SOS)

The Specialist Outpatient Service (SOS) offers patients ready access to a wide range of specialist medical and surgical servics conducted by the staff of the hospital. A Specialist Outpatient Service Patient Fact Sheet has been developed to provide patients with relevant information on the service.

Location

Not all Specialist Outpatient Service Clinics are held in a central location.  It is recommended the patient attending or the referring doctor should confirm the location when making the appointment.

Patients must bring their Medicare Card and Pension Card to every appointment. Following receipt of referrals, letters will be sent to both the patient and referring doctor regarding the request and how long the patient will be expected to wait for that appointment. All correspondence from the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) must be read and replied to promptly. Failure to follow the instructions could result in a loss of position on the waiting list.
