Women's and Newborn Services

Proud mum kissing her babys foot

Women's and Newborn Services offer a wide and diverse range of healthcare services to women and their babies in Queensland. Our dedicated team delivers a high standard of quality care to assist you in achieving the best and most positive outcome for you and your family. We remain a leading force in health promotion whilst continuing to provide specialist care in Maternity, Neonatology, Gynaecology and Cancer Services.

The service line maintains a strong connection with local universities, with many students who have studied with us going on to join our workforce. It is a large provider of training for The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists membership and fellowship in Queensland.

The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) supports the Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) and the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding in advocating for the health and wellbeing of mothers and babies. We are aiming for BFHI accreditation in the promotion of breastfeeding as the norm and where the mother's informed choice of infant feeding is encouraged, respected and supported.
