We embrace families as key partners in our care team

Our model of care

Family centred care is built on the foundation that the family is a child's primary source of strength and support and that health care professionals should work with families as full partners is their child's health care.

Health care professionals are recognising more and more that working with families as a team provides the best possible outcome for children and young people.

How we aim to deliever family centred care

We are constantly looking for better ways to provide services and facilities that better meet the needs of children, young people and their families. We are committed to achieving this by:

Getting families involved

To ensure our facilities not only meet the needs of the people who work there, but also those who use them, we have established the RCH Family Advisory Council.

The RCH Family Advisory Council is made up of family members of children who have used our services. They meet once a month to advise us on what family centred care means to our patients and their families.

If you would like to be part of our Family Advisory Council please contact the RCH Communications and Engagement team on 07 3636 3777.

Families from regional areas are welcome to attend meetings via teleconferencing.
