About the service

The Department's core business is:

The Department of Emergency Medicine operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Department provides:

Patients are seen in order of urgency of their clinical condition (rather than in order of arrival) in accord with the Australasian Triage Scale.

Clinical care is significantly protocol driven. The Department embraces the concept of evidenced based clinical practice.

The Department conducts research independently and in collaboration with other departments. It is a foundation member site of the Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative ( PREDICT ).
