Hospital Access Unit

To support the Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Healthcare Improvement in the statewide coordination and management of surgical, outpatient and emergency department services.  The Hospital Access Unit provides decision support and coordination services to improve patient access to surgical hospital services (particularly specialist outpatient and elective surgery services).  This is facilitated by:

• Monitoring service capacity and utilisation;
• Managing demand through service coordination strategies;
• Developing process and information systems to improve efficiency, appropriate practice, and equity of access;
• Reporting, analysing, and reviewing performance; and
• Guiding the forward planning and ongoing management of services.
