icon A new helipad will be built and is due to open late 2014 or early 2015, enabling better transport of trauma patients.
icon The Rockhampton Hospital opened an extended emergency care unit which has improved access to patients who require short-term care, but not admission to a ward bed. This has resulted in emergency department performance results.
icon Hospital in the Home and Hospital in the Nursing Home programs have increased the delivery of acute care out of the hospital, giving suitable patients support to stay in the community rather than be admitted to hospital.
icon A four-month trial commenced in March 2014 to provide 200 of the most urgent ophthalmology patients (public) access to eye surgery—this trial is provided through a public-private partnership agreement.
