This page provides HIV/AIDS clinical guidelines, information on management of people living with or at risk of HIV, information on training opportunities, links to useful resources and a list of GPs eligible to prescribe S100 drugs in Queensland.

HIV Public Health Team

Clinicians seeking support with HIV notifications, contact tracing, and dealing with HIV positive people who may be putting others at risk or having difficulty with disclosure can receive support from the HIV Public Health Team.

Queensland Health HIV Clinical Services

Specialist HIV and Sexual Health services are available throughout Queensland.  Clinicians provide treatment and care for people living with HIV.  People living with HIV can also access treatment services through hospital based infectious diseases units.

Seroconversion Study for people newly diagnosed with HIV

HIV Seroconversion Study

Below is a link to an invitation to people who have recently been diagnosed with HIV to participate in a national study. The study aims to collect information about HIV knowledge and HIV risk behavious before and after HIV diagnosis which will provide valuable information for health promotion and HIV prevention programs and policies. All information provided by participants is confidential and is kept secure by the Kirby institute at the University of NSW. Study reports produced by the Kirby Institute present information in a de-identified form to protect the confidentiality of study participants. Queensland Health is a funding partner of the study.

GP S100 Prescribers

In addition to Queensland Health services, some GPs also provide specialist HIV treatment and care, and can also prescribe HIV S100 medications. Below is a list of General Practitioners who are eligible to prescribe HIV medication and who have consented to providing their names and postcodes online.

HIV training and development

Queensland Health provides training and development opportunities for health professionals providing sexual health services and/or care to people with HIV.  The program delivered through the University of Queensland School of Medicine includes courses for GPs interested in prescribing S100 HIV treatment drugs.
