Queensland Students

Most Queensland universities have a Student Placement Deed with Queensland Health, however Operational Schedules need to be in place for all placements. Schedules are completed by the relevant staff within the facility and your school.

Your responsibility as a student is to comply with Schedules 5 and 6, as per the Schedule Template, and explained in the guidelines for the Schedules. This covers policies, guidelines and requirements of Queensland Health, such as the policies for the management of HIV, hepatitis B and C infected healthcare workers. See also our Frequently Asked Questions.

Before beginning the placement, you must complete the student orientation package and theorientation checklist.

You will also need to sign the deed polls on 'Placement Requirements' and 'Privacy and Consent'. Be aware that you may have already signed these documents at the beginning of your course.  Check with your university clinical placements registrar for clarification.

Be aware that your university supervisor will also need to sign deed polls on 'Supervision of Placements' and 'Privacy and Consent'.

Interstate Students

Interstate students who would like to organise a placement in Queensland Health should first discuss this with the staff at their university. University staff may then contact a facility to negoiate a placement. The District Manager's office will be able to give you the details of a placement contact.

If a placement is granted, you should be aware of the requirement for a Student Placement Deed and Schedules to be in place. (Note that most Queensland universities already have a Deed).
