Information for supervisors and other staff
This website is an initiative of Queensland Health to better prepare health professional students attending our facilities on placements and fieldwork. It has been designed to provide a forum for students to familiarise themselves with Queensland Health systems, workplace conditions and expectations.
The site is designed to standardise the orientation that is received by students, state- wide. It is not designed to replace clinical or site- specific orientation.

Responsibilities of staff:

Collect the signed and dated checklist to ensure that students have completed their orientation.

If you have students to supervise, it is recommended that you orientate yourself to the website, especially the essentials placement requirements section. This will give you an idea of what students will be reading.

The site can also be used as a teaching tool if issues arise during their placement.

If you receive enquiries from interstate or overseas institutions regarding requirements before placement, please advise them that their students must review this website

If a student is required to use a Queensland Health vehicle (as driver or passenger), please be aware of the policy requirements of seeking permission. A memo and completed application form (found within this policy) must be submitted to the appropriate authority. Please note that this policy is only accessible through the Queensland Health intranet site (QHEPS)
