Volunteering at QEII Hospital

For almost 30 years the volunteers at QEII Jubilee Hospital have been vital members of the health care team. A number of organisations provide volunteers and they are:

QEII Hospital Auxiliary volunteers operate the coffee shop and provide a trolley service for patients, staff and visitors throughout the hospital.

Tzu Chi Foundation provides volunteers to assist in the Outpatients and Emergency Departments and BreastScreen Queensland. It also has donated more than $50,000 in equipment through fundraising.

Australian Red Cross (Sunnybank branch) volunteers provide a rest room for relatives of the seriously ill and cosmetic care for long stay patients. Australian Red Cross also operates a medical equipment loan service, gift shop and library service.

Sunbeams Quality of Life Activity Program volunteers enhance the quality of life for patients who spend long periods in hospital. They provide group activities such as music, craft, games, gardening and quizzes. These activities help promote a feeling of self-worth and enjoyment as well as a sense of belonging for patients.
