Secondary Schools

Secondary Schools can actively implement sun protective practices by

• the development of sun safe policy
• timetabling sport to avoid peak ultraviolet time of day outside, following recommendations in Sun safety for outdoors sports 
• creating shade
• recommendation of sun protective clothing, hats and sunglasses as part of the school uniform
• encouraging the use of sunscreen
• incorporating sun safe curriculum into a number of school subjects
• encouraging positive role modelling of staff and parents.

Secondary school students can find information about skin cancer from the Cancer Council Queensland helpline.

Education Queensland's website contains curriculum health issue information and guidelines for skin cancer and sun safety.
Education Queensland also has sun safety policy framework: HLS-PR-013 Developing a Sun Safety Strategy.
