RESEARCH

A learning organisation environment recognises the value of research contributions to improving and evaluating service delivery, models of care, treatment and disability to the facility and the broader mental health service community. Participating in the practice of research promotes the development and understanding of mental health care and leads to improved consumer outcomes.

 

The Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR)

QCMHR (formally known as the Queensland Centre for Schizophrenia Research or QCSR) forms a significant part of The Park- Centre for Mental Health's research arm. QCMHR is located on-site, with an appropriate range of facilities and technologies and access to external laboratories established through partnerships with hospitals and Universities.

 

QCMHR currently shares laboratory facilities at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, Sir Albert Sakzewski Virus Research Centre, Griffith University, and the St Lucia Campus of the University of Queensland.

 

Mission Statement

 

QCMHR supports the mission and values of Queensland Health, and serves the public through research which helps Queenslanders to better health and well being.

 

 

The Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research is a dedicated Business Unit within The Park- Centre for Mental Health, and is funded by Queensland Health through West Moreton District Health Services. Many of our researchers also have a clinical role within the hospital.

 

Additional funding for specific research projects is sought through peer reviewed grants.

 

Service Evaluation Research Unit (SERU)

 

The Unit's research and evaluation focuses on clinical practice and consumer outcomes. Research is performed by staff employed by the West Moreton Health Service District, joint appointments, grant-funded staff, postgraduate students and collaborators.  The purpose of the unit is to:
