Training and Education Opportunities

Training/Career in NURSING: Looking for a 'cutting-edge' career? The Park – Centre for Mental Health runs programs for nurses through the Graduate Diploma Program (GDP) and the Graduate Nurse Transition Program (GNTP). Whether you want to consolidate your mental health nursing education or you want a rewarding and challenging new direction, these programs assist you to progress your career possibilities further.

Graduate Nursing Transition Program

Nurses registered with the Qld Nursing Council (with a Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent) may apply for up to 12 months contract through this course. Students of the course are required to complete a set of minimum hours of Clinical Practice in clinical areas within the Facility. Supportive Preceptors are provided in each clinical area. 

 

Graduate Diploma Program

Nurses registered with the Qld Nursing Council (possessing a Bachelors Degree in Nursing or equivalent) and concurrently enrolled in a Graduate Diploma of Mental Health Nursing Program at the University of Queensland can apply for this opportunity to learn and practice their mental health nursing skills. Students will be contracted for up to two years, based on continuing enrolment within the University program.

 

During this time Students are required to undertake a minimum number of hours of clinical practice in four clinical areas, preceptorship is provided in each area by experienced registered nursing staff. Completion of the clinical and educational components of the two year Program enables the graduate to apply for Mental Health Endorsement with the Queensland Nursing Council (QNC).
