Professional Development and Support
| Inservice |
- Townsville Physiotherapy Department demonstrates a commitment to best practice physiotherapy care by providing a weekly in-service program which could include invited speakers, videoconferencing and critically appraised topics.

- Townsville Physiotherapy Department provides professional support through various methods of development including clinical supervision, peer supervision, journal club and peer review.
|
| Workshops |
- The facilities at The Townsville Hospital are conducive to running workshops. With the availability of the Robert Douglas Auditorium and meeting rooms of varying size all fitted with state of the art equipment, it makes for an excellent venue to provide professional development opportunities.
|
- The Physiotherapy Service aims to hold at least 2 workshops a year. Identifying topics of current interest to staff and providing guest lecturers, internationally acclaimed speakers and professionally recognised courses.
|
- Attendance can be during work hours, but may also include weekends and after hours. Queensland Health staff who choose to attend can at times be subsidised.
|
| Medical Education Programs |
- Medical Education programs are offered to professional staff by the Institute of Medicine with guest speakers providing education on a wide range of topics.
|
- These lectures are held in the hospital’s Robert Douglas Auditorium.
|
| Staff Development Unit |
- The Staff Development Unit provides ongoing education and development opportunities for staff to optimise patient care and to enhance personal and professional growth of employees.

- This is achieved through the provision of quality programs.

- The Private Practice Research & Education Trust is a group which assists staff with up to $1000 towards expenses to attend work related conferences, workshops & seminars.
|
- Applicants must go through an approval process.
|
- Applications are restricted to one per calender year.
