About the Ayr Health Service

The Ayr Health Service is a 28-bed facility located in the township of Ayr, in North Queensland. The facility employs around 150 staff and has approximately 2,285 inpatients each year.


The Ayr Health Service offers general medical, surgical and obstetric services to Ayr, Home Hill and the broader Burdekin Shire. The facility has various allied health services on offer including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, medical imaging, dental, speech therapy, a social worker and pharmaceutical services. A mental health service is also available to the community as well as various visiting services including surgical, psychiatric, paediatric and a chest physician.


The primary health services on offer comprise of child, adolescent and family health service, an Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander health worker, school-based youth health nurse, chronic diseases clinical nurse and a health promotion officer.
