Community Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT)

Overview

The CAT Team is the identified single point of contact for the Institute of Mental Health Services.  The CAT Team is a mobile community based team that undertakes initial assessment and offers short term support, treatment and referral for persons accessing the mental health service. The service provides face to face assessments, telephone assessments, liaison and education with other agencies, general education and information on mental illness/health issues and home assessments under the Queensland Mental Health Act 2000 Justice Examination Order (JEO).

The Team works an extended hours roster providing services from 8am to 9pm weekdays and 10am to 6pm weekends and public holidays.

Referral procedure

Referrals can be made by self presentation to either Community Mental Health site at Kirwan or North Ward, presentation to the Emergency Department, through GP’s,  Police and the general public.
