Consultation and Liaison Services

Consultation and Liaison provide a Mental Health Service to the general wards of The Townsville Hospital.

The Team consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, a Psychiatric Registrar, a Psychologist, Clinical Nurse Consultant and a Clinical Nurse.

The team aims to rapidly respond to the mental health needs of families and patients in the general wards of The Townsville Hospital.

The team provides:

• Mental health assessment of patients
• Education to hospital staff on mental health issues
• Recommendations for mental health treatment and care
• Counselling services
• Medication review
• Psychological support
• Patient Education
• Outpatient Clinics

Referral Procedure

Referral is made directly from staff in the general wards of The Townsville Hospital and reviewed.
