The Institute of Mental Health provides mental health services in other Health Service Districts by way of regular visiting mental health staff to the communities of Ayr, Bowen and Charters Towers.
Magnetic Island is visited by a Clinical Nurse from the mental health service for a day a fortnight.
The Indigenous Mental Health Services Professional Senior and a Psychiatric Registrar also provide a visiting mental health service every six weeks to the remote communities of Mornington Island, Doomadgee, Burketown and less frequently to Normanton. Generally they will be accompanied by one other senior mental health services staff member.
